The construction of the church Sant Romà in Lloret de Mar began in 1509, just as the life of the town had been inching closer to the sea and outgrowing the modest parish church then available. In 1522, the new temple was opened to worshippers.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the economical growth of Lloret de Mar fortuitously coincided with the wave of returning indianos who generously opened their pockets to finance a grand reconstruction. Thanks to the efforts of the local architect Bonaventura Conill whose works may also be seen at the famous Modernist cemetery in Lloret, the church received a striking addition—the Santíssim side chapel crowned with a cupola and decorated with Art Nouveau mosaics.

The master managed to blend the Gothic foundations of the Medieval structure with the lively and fashionable motifs of Art Nouveau, also adding Renaissance, Byzantian and Islamic references to the equation. The new church was inaugurated in 1914.

Santa Creu de Rodes is an abandoned ancient hamlet next to the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes.

Its population loss began in the 13th century, the time of the conquest of Mallorca in which the hamlet residents took an active part. In the following century, it was the plague that took its toll and then, time itself did the rest—while life continued in the hamlet to some extent for a couple of centuries more, by the end of the 16th century the village had completely died out.

The most well-preserved building in Santa Creu de Rodes is the church of Santa Helena de Rodes, first mentioned in the archives back in 974 A.D. In 1997, the church received a heritage designation and governmental protection as a culturally significant object of national interest.
