Torre Maria is a house built in 1932 by the commission of the Cuban millionaire Angel Perez in the Novecento style. The structure has two storeys, a tower on the northern side, and an arched gallery that serves as a base for the terraces of the second floor.
The tower Maria is a heritage building included on the list of architectural monuments of Catalonia. Today, it houses the tourism office of La Bisbal d’Empordà.

The observation tower on the square Plaça de Pella i Forgas in Begur was built in the 16th century to defend the town against pirates.
The house that the tower is attached to is named after the Catalan politician, historian and publicist Jose Pella y Forgas (1852-1918), born in Begur, who previously owned the estate.
