Gastronomic Campaign “Pals and Rice Cuisine”

Gastronomic Campaign “Pals and Rice Cuisine”
April 13 - May 31, Pals

The most celebrated local product and the source of the biggest pride in the coastal town of Pals is rice. The gastronomic campaign Pals and Rice Cuisine, organized in Pals since 1994 with the support from the local government, numerous local producers and restaurants, showcases the high quality of local rice and the great traditions that come with growing it.

Rice growing is central to the economic activity of most local producers and artisans, so dedicating a foodie event to it is just one way to boost the local economy and promote tourism in Pals outside of the traditional beach season.

Pals and Rice Cuisine begins in April and runs till mid-May. During the campaign, participating restaurants offer guests a special prix-fixe menu whose main course is the traditional Pals rice casserole (“Arroz de Pals a la cazuela”), accompanied by appetizers and dessert selected by each establishment.

Besides savouring the main attraction, Pals visitors may also take part in many activities organized by the Pals and Rice Cuisine campaign, including thematic guided visits, cooking workshops, artisanal markets, conferences, and lectures.
